‘Magic The Gathering’ Star Trek Set Announced, Coming Next Year – TrekMovie.com

A new Magic: The Gathering x Star Trek set was today announced by Wizards of the Coast at MagicCon in Atlanta. The Trek version, one of several new licensed sets announced for the collectible trading card game, should be available to start playing sometime in November 2026.

Magic: The Gathering x Star Trek announcement

This new Star Trek set is the first collaboration with Magic: The Gathering‘s and will be its final new set of 2026, Wizards of the Coast said in its announcement:

Our final Magic set of 2026 takes us to the final frontier. Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek invites players on a journey across the stars. This set will be warping into your hands in November 2026. Featuring characters, stories, and (of course) spaceships from the entire franchise, this set has something for every Star Trek fan.

Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek will make the voyage to tabletop Magic and MTG Arena next year, and we’ll have more to share about this set in the future. Until then, prepare to boldly go where no Magic set has gone before.

Other new licensed sets include Avatar: The Last Airbender (21 November 2025), Marvel Super Heroes (August 2026), and The Hobbit (August 2026), which join already available sets like Marvel’s Spider-Man and Final Fantasy.

Magic: The Gathering x Star Trek set artwork

An accompanying video, above, shows off artwork from five cards spanning The Original Series and The Next Generation, including the Enterprise, the Enterprise-D, TOS-era James T. Kirk, a wide-eyed Gowron (as all representations of Gowron should be), and the Crystalline Entity. As per Wizards of the Coast’s announcement, we should see representation from shows up to—and possibly including—Starfleet Academy, as the company reiterated that fans will be able to “engage with the unforgettable crews, adversaries, and starships from across 60 years of Star Trek history.”

Card artwork was also posted to the Magic: The Gathering website; check those out below.

The Enterprise, by Dofresh.

Captain Kirk, by Josh Newton.

The Enterprise D, by Raymond Swanland.

The Crystalline Entity, by David Alvarez.

Gowron, by Remi Jacquot.

New to Magic: The Gathering?

Magic: The Gathering, available to play since 1993, is a collectible trading card game that, at first glance, looks like Dungeons & Dragons—though not when using, say, a Star Trek set—but plays very differently. Thankfully, Wizards of the Coast is very welcoming to new players—if you’d like to brush up on the rules, or even learn how to play from scratch, you can head here to start that process. And hey, you’ve got more than a year to get good.

The Magic: The Gathering x Star Trek set will head to store shelves sometime in November 2026. We’ll keep reporting back as more on the set is known.
