‘Ahsoka’ Season 2: Mary Elizabeth Winstead Teases Extended Role With Plenty of Action

The hype for the second season of Ahsoka is slowly ramping up, with the stars and creators sharing their excitement for the upcoming Disney Plus series, which will continue the adventures of Anakin Skywalker’s former Padawan and her companions in the New Republic era. While promoting her latest feature, The Hand that Rocks the Cradle, Mary Elizabeth Winstead spoke to Collider, and naturally, the conversation included her role as General Hera Syndulla

In Season 1, Hera allied with her friends Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren to investigate Imperial activity linked to Grand Admiral Thrawn. Together, they uncovered a plot to build the Eye of Sion, a massive hyperspace ring with enough power to jump to another galaxy. Ahsoka was able to follow the ship to Peridea by hitching a ride with some migrating Purrgil while Hera remained behind to face a New Republic tribunal – dodging a bullet through some indirect help from Leia. Winstead is coy about revealing details but teases that her character will have more action in the second season.

“You know, I’m not sure what I can say, other than I’m in this season a bit more, which is fun. I’m definitely in on the action, as you say, quite a bit more, which was great to have a Hera really, kind of like, you know, getting some stuff done. So yeah, I honestly, I’m not gonna say much more than that, just because I’ve not [been] given my guidelines yet. So I’m gonna leave it at that. But it was so much fun. I just finished it, and it was an absolute blast. I loved every minute of it. So I can’t wait for people to see it.”

Hera and Ezra hide from Thrawn in Star Wars Rebels

This is certainly in keeping with her character. In Rebels, Hera was the Captain of a small Rebel cell and was often in the thick of the action alongside Ezra Bridger and the rest of the Ghost crew. The second season has been teased as an action-packed adventure, which will also feature an Admiral Ackbar vs Grand Admiral Thrawn space battle.

Ahsoka season 2 will release on Disney Plus in 2026
