Chinese military jets that flew through S'pore air space on May 31 'not deemed a threat': Ng Eng Hen

16 People’s Liberation Army Air Force planes that flew through Singapore air space in May were not deemed as a threat by the Republic of Singapore Air Force. Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen said the authorities were not informed of the move beforehand, and that the RSAF does not manage the country’s airspace. The incident came to light in June when the Malaysian Air Force said the planes flew through Singapore before approaching its air space. Dr Ng said state aircraft are not legally required to submit flight plans to relevant authorities when passing through or conducting training.
