‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’: New International Poster Drops; Glimpses of New Footage Shown Before ‘Zootopia 2′

A lot of news has dropped recently for next year’s The Mandalorian and Grogu. Jon Favreau gave fans some nice story hints last week and before that we heard about additional casting as well. Now, we’ve gotten another poster for the movie and some new footage.

The poster, released by the official Star Wars account in Latin America, lists the movie’s release date as May 21, 2026. This might mean that the movie will open a day early in South American territories, or perhaps it’s simply referencing the Thursday previews. See the new poster below:

Also, fans eager to see more footage of next year’s Star Wars adventure can get a small sneak peek before showings of Zootopia 2. The trailer being played in theaters is largely the same as the one from months ago, but it has some new bits. According to reports from social media and the firsthand experience of a member of our team, most of the new material consists of Grogu destroying some mouse droids and Din Djarin speeding down the mountain to attack the AT-ATs. It’s not much, but it’s a reminder that more action-packed stories with the now-iconic characters lie ahead.

In other news, Rotta actor Jeremy Allen White just spoke with Variety about his recent and upcoming work, including The Mandalorian and Grogu. White discussed how a meeting with director Jon Favreau at a party ended up getting him the part. While his story mostly matches one he told last month, he also gave some new details about how he played the character. White has said before that his portrayal of the character was entirely from the sound booth, doing the voice — no motion capture was involved. Now he added a little bit more to that:

“I’d never done voice work. There isn’t any stop-motion work or anything physical like that. I was excited about doing a job that is in this world of Star Wars, a world that I have admired for a very long time. I was also excited about doing the movie that my daughters can go and see.”

So far, Rotta’s only on-screen appearances are in the 2008 Clone Wars animated film and a brief scene in the subsequent television series. He was just an infant in both appearances, so the character doesn’t have an established voice or personality. When asked how he approached voicing the crime lord, White had this to say.

“I did a bit of a voice, but then I think Jon also ended up tweaking it a little bit. It was maybe a year ago. I did a couple sessions. I’ve not seen any of it.”

Finally, the actor confirmed that he did end up relating to Rotta in some form, but he didn’t go into specifics. No doubt he doesn’t want to give too much away before the movie’s release.

The Mandalorian and Grogu releases on May 22, 2026.

Eric has been a fan of Star Wars ever since the age of five (or so) when his parents sat him down in front of a TV with pizza and a Sprite and showed him the original trilogy. He keeps trying to convince more fans to read the amazing 1980s Star Wars newspaper comics by Archie Goodwin and Al Williamson. When he’s not reading, watching or playing Star Wars media, he’s often enjoying other great fantasy and science fiction sagas or playing roleplaying games with his friends.
