Andor has won a Peabody Award, one out of 34 other winners across different categories.
Presumably it was the second season specifically that was awarded after it released last year, though the award simply states “Andor“. It won the award under the “Entertainment” category, alongside ten other series.
The full list of winners for “Entertainment” is as follows:
- Adolescence
- Andor
- Common Side Effects
- Dying for Sex
- Forever
- Heated Rivalry
- Jimmy Kimmel Live!
- Mussolini: Son of the Century
- The Pitt
- Pluribus
- The Rehearsal
Jeffrey Jones, executive director of Peabody, had the following to say about the winners, and you can see why Andor might have been selected:
“The winners of the 86th annual Peabody Awards reflect Peabody’s mission to honor storytelling that has the potential to change culture, whether it’s examining the destructive tactics of ICE, viewing terminal illness through a deeply personal lens, or resisting attempts to stifle free speech. We look forward to recognizing and celebrating these winners.”
The Ghorman arc sounds like it fits pretty neatly in with some of the topics that Jones mentions. Showrunner Tony Gilroy has often discussed how Andor is about how fascist organizations rise up and how a resistance forms to stop it, which definitely fits the themes that Peabody is looking for.
It’s the latest of many awards that Andor has been honored with, along with winning big at the Primetime Emmys, Creative Arts Emmys and Saturn Awards, landing in the Top 10 TV Shows of 2025 at the AFI Awards. The series also garnered nominations at the Actors and DGA Awards.
