Strange New Worlds’ – TrekMovie.com

This week in Toronto, work on the fifth and final season Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is approaching completion and more actors are wrapping up their work for the series. The final season began production in September, but because it only has six episodes, work can finish up before the Christmas break.

Strange new goodbyes from Celia, Martin, and Jess

After our last SNW finale countdown article about Christina Chong (La’an Noonien Singh) having wrapped her work, there was an update from Celia Rose Gooding. On Monday, from her trailer, the actress revealed her time as Nyota Uhura was over, saying on Instagram  “5 year mission complete. She’s Wrapped! Long Live Star Freedom.” Later that evening, she returned to the set to post an Instagram story where she showed off some of dance moves from the captain’s chair on the bridge of the USS Enterprise. She again showed off her combadge with the message “how you feeling post wrap?”

In October at New York Comic-Con, Gooding talked about how they were focused on making season 5 as good as it could be, but couldn’t help but think about what this week might be like. “I think on that last day when we are all weeping and holding each other, that’s when we realize that it’s behind us,” she said before reminding the crowd “..but there’s a lot more Trek coming. We don’t got time to mourn. We got a universe to save, baby.”

Also on Monday evening, actor Martin Quinn gave an update from his trailer on IG: “That’s a wrap on Scot-man.”

The Scottish actor joined the  Strange New Worlds cast as a series regular in the third and latest season. In a NYCC interview with ScreenRant, Quinn expressed sadness that “just as [Scotty’s] finding himself” in season 5 the show is ending. “I’m kind of sad about joining the party as everyone’s booking taxis to go home!”

Later that evening, Quinn reposted a story from his friend, actress and choreographer Fergie Fraser, who had the message “so proud of this guy wrapping Star Trek yesterday – you can beam me up anytime baby.”

And finally, today actress Jess Bush took to Instagram to report her work as Christine Chapel had been completed with the message “This feeling is very big. I could not be more thankful for the five years I got to spend growing with this group of people. That’s a wrap on the chap.” She also took the opportunity to post a collage of photos from behind the scenes on the show.

So as of today, we have heard from about half the cast revealing they’ve finished their work on the show. From the series regulars, that leaves Babs Olusanmokun (M’Benga), Melissa Navia (Ortegas), Rebecca Romijn (Una/Number One), Ethan Peck (Spock), and Anson Mount (Captain Pike)—and recurring guest star Paul Wesley (Kirk), who we know will be a major part of the series finale, as the showrunners have already revealed the episode will feature his first time in command of the USS Enterprise.

The series finale is expected to wrap up completely this week. We may not hear from every actor individually, and it’s likely more of them have already wrapped up their work. However, Anson Mount has been sharing photos and thoughts on social media for a while as the finale approached, giving updates as recently as last week. As the first on the call sheet, he will likely be the last to wrap.

It will still be a while before we see the fifth and final season of Strange New Worlds. Season 4 is coming “soon” in 2026, likely not long after the first season of Starfleet Academy ends in March.
