As we reported earlier this week, the production for the fifth and final season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is working through the Thanksgiving holiday, with filming on the series finale expected to wrap up in December before Christmas. Today Anson Mount continued his final season musings by sharing a video for fans from the set as he got ready for what is just another day of work for the star of the show.
Happy Thanksgiving, from Captain Pike
This morning Anson Mount posted a video he shot of himself walking from his trailer to inside the studio at CBS Stages Mississauga where Strange New Worlds has been shot for five years. The series star noted that unlike in the USA, today is not a holiday in Canada. The Canadian Thanksgiving is a holiday in the second week of October.
The video posted with the message “Happy Thanksgiving, everyone. #turkeyday #startrek #tvproduction #norestforthewicked” shows Anson walking through the stages, including giving co-star Jess Bush (Christine Chapel) a hug on his way to the set, as he was very careful not to reveal any spoilers.
Mount seemed in a more energetic mood than when he last posted a video in the wee hours of Saturday morning, shortly after some late night shooting on Friday as he headed home for a quick visit with his family. In the new video he said he will be celebrating a late Thanksgiving with them tomorrow, before returning back to Toronto to get back to work on Monday.
It’s possible that today could be the final day of shooting for the penultimate episode of the series. Over the weekend Christina Chong told TrekMovie they were close to finishing episode five of the six-episode season last Friday, adding “We’re about to start shooting the last episode of Strange New Worlds. How crazy is that?”
A couple of weeks ago as the impending end of the series approached Anson began posting photos from the set on his Threads and Instagram to chronicle the final moments of the series. Earlier this week he posted another gallery of photos ranging from behind-the-scenes on set to some from past publicity events he has attended.
It will still be a while before we see the fifth and final season of Strange New Worlds. Season 4 is coming “soon” in 2026, likely not long after the first season of Starfleet Academy wraps up in March.
