First point your browser to Datascope (1) at http://heasarc.gsfc.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/vo/datascope/init.pl
Put in coordinates in decimal or sexagesimal or put an object name (2). These coordinates correspond to an irregular dwarf galaxy called Sextans B.
When you click on "Submit Query", the resulting collection is built gradually (3), and you can see the percentage of the remote services that have been polled for data.
When it is finished (or before) click on the "Resources" tab (4). You will see a number of survey names, arranged by wavelength, images at the top of the page, and catalogs and spectra below.
Selecting the SDSS survey (5), you get a menu of suitable images. Clicking on one of these (5a) will download the FITS file, which you can open with your favorite FITS tool. Your browser may give the downloaded file a strange name, and you may have to manually add the ".fits" extension so it can be recognized as such.
Selecting the 2MASS survey (6) and downloading an image shows the dwarf galaxy in the infrared (6a).
