Hi Doug,

VOSpace. Matthew announced that they will be starting the VOSpace v2.0

discussions in the next couple of weeks.

This is something we may want to have a broader discussion of within
NVO. So far as I know, there has thus far been little discussion
of NVO plans for using VOSpace 2.0 in our applications and services,
and little chance to influence the design, although we will need this
for our next round of applications.

It would be good to look at for example, current thoughts on
integration of VOSpace with TAP for table storage and how well VOSpace
2 might support this. Likewise SIAV2 - what functionality is in
VOSpace and what is in the data services; are they complementary?
What form will the proposed REST interface take, and how does this
compare with e.g., the UWS/DAL2 integration we have come up with
for TAP? Is the proposed scope appropriate for our anticipated
applications and services?

I realize all this will be discussed in the interop as well, but
it can be difficult for many of us to attend those sessions, and in
any case it would be good to have some broader discussion within NVO
before we get to that point.

We've had presentations/discussions about VOSpace 2.0 at the last two
Interops; the most recent was:

http://www.ivoa.net/internal/IVOA/InterOpOct2008GridAndWebServices/Baltimore
-VOSpace-2.0.pdf

In Baltimore, we put together a list of stakeholders and acknowledged that
DAL has an interest in this spec. I believe that Keith was going to suggest
someone when we formed the spec definition group.

            Cheers,

            Matthew
