How to correct the WCS on your image

  • First you will need a FITS image with WSC astrometry (1). For this example, I took a SDSS image and changed the FITS header to shift it by 0.05 degrees. You can get that broken image here, or the corrrect image here

  • Point your browser to http://iraf-nvo.noao.edu/wcsfixer

  • Use the Browse button (2) to locate your image, and click on "Submit".

  • Watch the dark blue Status line (3) as the computation happens.

  • When finished, you can see various views of the changes that were made, the displacements of stars, the original and fixed WCS.

  • Finally, you can download the fixed image (4).
